“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has opened, and there are plenty of reasons to praise the performances of Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard and Rooney Mara…but the stand out of the cast is really the city of Stockholm — and the Swedish style in particular. It’s the dead of winter in Sweden and whole cast is obviously freezing all the time — but they look so good in their cold weather clothes. No hideous Patagonia shells or marshmallow down puffy jackets. It’s all sleek wool top coats, tasteful tweeds, simple wool dresses, some fantastic shapeless leather get ups for Mara and a very good corduroy blazer on a very bad man. So where do you go to get that Millennium series chic winter look? If you’re not interested in sifting through H&M’s new “Dragon Tattoo Collection” it’s time for your very own Stockholm style pilgrimage.” Read the whole article by Charles Runnette on NewNowNext>>

Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander on W‘s February 2011 cover!!
David Fincher, the darkly obsessive director of Fight Club and The Social Network, is making the Hollywood version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
In the February issue of W we get an exclusive first look from the set of the year’s most anticipated film.
Fincher’s film departs dramatically from the book: Mikael Blomkvist is more gentlemanly, Salander is more aggressive—and the ending has been completely altered. What do you think about that? And who do you think makes the better “Girl with the dragon tattoo” – Rooney Mara or Noomi Rapace?

The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson has sold over 50 million copies (and still counting…) world wide.

Right now BBC Fast Track is filming in Stockholm. I had the pleasure of keeping them company all day. Stockholm was beautiful dressed in white as you can see. Almost like a fairytale. We mostly walked in the footsteps of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist and met some people who actually knew Stieg Larsson, the late author of the Millennium Trilogy.

Here we are at Bellmansgatan 1. This is where Mikael Blomkvist lives in an attic apartment with a view of the water and Old Town (Gamla stan). In the books, the entrance of the building is at street level. In reality, the entrance to Bellmansgatan 1 is from the walkway over the street.
“One of the year’s most intriguing queer character and strongest feminist storylines were created by a deceased straight man in Sweden — yep, you read that right.” LeeAnn Kriegh, contributing writer for AfterEllen, about Lisbeth Salander and the Millennium Trilogy.
The Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium thriller trilogy has become a huge success. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been made into films and TV series. Since then, masses of Stieg Larsson fans have been making their way to Stockholm to see the settings where the stories take place.
The Millennium trilogy revolves around the investigating journalist Mikael Blomkvist and computer-hacker Lisbeth Salander. The main characters live and work in the island of Södermalm in Stockholm and there is a great interest in experiencing the atmosphere on location. Read more about guided Millennium tours>>
